Write and pitch feature stories for Pigeons and Planes, a Complex Media owned-and-operated music site reporting on independent and major label market artists. Aggregate as many as five news posts per day. Use basic HTML to code slideshows in Google Spreadsheets for import into our CMS. Compile story and photo research, edit images in Photoshop, transcribe interviews, compose slideshow heds and deks. As an editorial intern pitched, reported, and wrote a 7,000-word oral history of Pigeons and Planes for the site’s fifth anniversary package, which involved over five hours of interview footage with 10 key players conducted over a month. Wrote and reported a guide to running a successful independent record store featuring advice from Amoeba Records’ Marc Weinstein.

Produced, edited and published content on a seven-day schedule. Implemented SEO strategies to increase blog readership by 50 percent.
